Staying at Edinburgh with Children

Travelling with children can be hard work with so many things to remember and everything taking that little bit longer but booking an overnight stay at Edinburgh Airport before travelling couldn't be easier.

Room layout

Most hotels at Edinburgh have designated family rooms which will accommodate 2 adults and 2 children under the age of sixteen. Some will have a double bed and 2 single beds but often a double sofa bed will be made up for the children to share. Alternatively, some hotels offer interconnecting family rooms with a double and twin room linked by an internal door.

Extra beds

At most hotels a family may book a double room with an extra roll away bed if there is only one child and that child is aged 12 years or under. There may be an additional supplement for the bed but generally it is more economical than booking a family room which will accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.

Cots

If your hotel search includes one or two adults and a child aged 2 or under, the results will automatically allocate a cot for that child. You can also place a request for a cot in the booking summary if you would prefer your child to sleep in a cot rather than a bed.

Young Families

Meal options

All hotels have one or more restaurants and most provide a children's menu at reasonable prices.

High chairs are generally available.

Shuttle buses

Most hotel shuttles offer an adult rate and a reduced ticket rate for children for transfers to and from the terminal. Some also offer a fixed rate ticket for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.

Taxis

It can be easier and sometimes cheaper to book a taxi from the hotel to the terminal. This can be arranged at the hotel reception when checking in.

N.B. There is no legal obligation when travelling by taxi to use a baby or child seat as long as children are secured by their parents and a seat belt.
